1. I loved the breakfast. We stayed for 6 days in total, and they provided different breakfast each day! Full of healthy food choices, Chinese and western. All carefully selected and made with great dedication to quality of ingredients. There is fresh ground coffee too but with automatic machine. My favorite was the cherry tomatoes, I guess they are locally grown in Taiwan thus so sweet and fresh. Then the nice selection of bread including small croissants which I can heat up with the small oven and make a nice croissant smoked salmon sandwich. Selection of fresh fruits are also different every day. 2. Kids friendly - they offered my 3 year old son a baby cot at no additional cost, comes with cute little pillow and duvet with animals which my son adored! Their cantine also provided baby chair for my son, with baby utensils and plate, and let him eat the buffet for free! 3. Clean. Bathroom had dry and wet sections partitioned so the shower water won't flow out to the toilet and basin regions. 4. Quiet. I've read a lot of reviews about other hotels being very noisy, with thin walls. I suspect this hotel doesn't have very good sound proofing with the doors cz I can easily hear other rooms' door lock beeping sounds, but the hotel was very quite still, maybe because neighbors were all considerate, and our window is not facing the street. 5. Other facilities that I always make sure a hotel has that this hotel also provides: washing machine, dryer, lift landing on all floors, windows. 6. Other less essential bonus: free bottled water x2 /day, mini fridge, free packet coffee/tea, kettle, free toiletries, hair dryer, VERY strong flow of shower water with hot water running out pretty quickly. Table corners are protected with childproof rounded corners. Fairly spacious, we could fit our large pram and 2 suitcases and still walk around freely. Friendly reception staff.

The Citizen Hotel . . . first of all, forget what they say on their web site about location; they’re incredibly close to the Dongmen station — like 4 blocks from Exit 2 — maybe a 5 minute walk down the main street. You enter the hotel off a lush courtyard — Koi pond included — into a very quiet, relaxing lobby. The people were gracious and pleasant and the room was lovely and quiet. The breakfast didn’t have tons of stuff but enough to satisfy even a picky eater. The staff were great there! We would stay there again in a second! It was reasonably priced EXCEPT for one issue. This was booked through Booking.com, as were all the hotels on this trip, but when we got there, we were put in a room in a corner, tucked in next to the stairs and the elevator, right next to the maid supply rooms. It was going to be loud but, when I asked if we could move to another room down the hall — the hotel had plenty of vacancies — I was informed that THAT room was THE booking.com room we ordered and moving would cost an extra $75. I understand hotels having policies . . . this was a bit unnecessary, especially since there were lots of vacancies on that same floor, so be forewarned if booking through this app . . . they allocate a room and that’s it. Other than that, the staff were incredibly nice and the breakfast simple with enough choices. VERY quiet room and very clean place all around . . . we would stay there again in a second!

I like how accommodating and nice the staffs are. I’m impressed on how they go the extra mile to assist us with our trip. A big shout out to May who assisted us patiently to book our private tour. Rooms are clean and their breakfast is good as well. They clean your rooms daily and provide bottles of water. Location wise it is very accessible. There are a lot of convenience stores in the block. Mcdonalds and Din Tai Fung (and many more restaurants) are all walking distance from the hotel. You really get the value of your money here. I can truly recommend this hotel to travellers in Taiwan.

i booked 2 rooms and stayed for 3 nights, i asked for the 2 rooms to be nearby and it was well arranged. Cleanliness is up to mark and well done. Abundant TV channels to suit all nationalities even if it was predominantly mandarin speaking ones - no surprise there. Breakfast choices is very good and fair. Near bus stop and MRT station - so convenient to get around. A big plus is there's a coin laundry available on this hotel which is pretty rare.

Welcoming staff. Good spread of breakfast Good location, near Dongmen mrt station, Dongmen day mkt and Yong Kang Street, opposite has a shop that sells tasty roast sweet potatoes and chestnuts. Room for double twin beds is spacious. Room has 2 armchairs with a coffee table and a workdesk with another chair. Good size bathroom with Hansgrohe fittings (although a bit dated), hot water comes quickly from basin tap and shower.
